Vaginismus Programme

Week 1

  • We understand you may have researched into this topic a number of times, from googling all about painful sex to finding professionals who may be able to help.

We’re here to bring the current research on Vaginismus from a medical and psychosexual viewpoint to help you feel understood and heard.

Week 2

  • Everyone’s experience is unique when it comes to sex. and relationships. We want to use the second week to focus on what Vaginismus means to you?

As a group, we’ll reflect on the dynamic of painful sex, what does penetration mean to you and what values are important.

Week 3

  • It’s difficult to feel present in moments when heavy and painful symptoms caused an awful distraction. This week we’ll focus on mindfulness, breath work and active ways to be present when needed.

Week 4

  • Using what you’ve learnt in week 3, we will explore a visualisation technique, looking inward to help process mental barriers and explore why they might be in place.

You will also be invited to explore a physical exercise in your own time and reflect in your workbooks.

Week 5

  • Sometimes helpful aids are useful when it comes to vaginismus. We can focus on ourselves by understanding what may be blocking us mentally, but it’s useful to know what aids are out there to support us, including dilators, and lube.

Week 6

  • After 5 weeks of work and reflection, a lot may be brought up for you as individual. We will use this last session to process any unquestioned questions, learn from one another and think about what you each need moving forward.
